Baume & Mercier Watches & Wonders Shanghai 2021

Baume & Mercier's stand at the Watches & Wonders Shanghai 2021 watch fair was conceived as a walk-in sculpture. In 1973, Baume & Mercier launched the Riviera watch: a timeless, powerful, unique and distinctive design that broke all the traditions of the time. In 2021, the Riviera watch is still relevant. The dodecagonal geometry of its bezel was reflected in the design of the stand. The Riviera theme was conveyed by the shades of blue, as well as a screen in the back of the booth showing the eternal continuity of the ocean waves. The whitewashed teak floor is reminiscent of a boat deck and complements the cool steel materialization. The lightness and elegance of the furniture elements contrast with the grandeur of the bezel structures, creating a balance between the timeless, elegant materials and the sculptural metal structure that represents both modern "Swiss made" design and a desire to break traditions.
